te whakapapa o te kahu o te rangi

Mohaka Pā – Waipapa-a-Iwi Mohaka Marae stands as a living expression of whakapapa, history and collective effort. Situated alongside the Mohaka awa and beneath the shelter of Tawhirirangi, the marae carries the stories of Ngāti Pahauwera, our ancestors, and the many uri/generations who have shaped this place through commitment, resilience and aroha.

Our pā was not built by one, but by many. From the early histories of Kahungunu, Te Huki, Te Kahu-o-te-Rangi and Rongomaiwahine, through to the restoration and development of the pā complex, each generation has contributed their time, skill and wairua. When our people come together with purpose, the marae thrives.

The marae continues to serve its people by hosting gatherings, sharing knowledge, and maintaining the tikanga that binds
